# A tool call fails without an error message

> Find the full error details for a failed Zapier MCP tool call when your AI client does not display them.

When a Zapier MCP tool call fails, your AI client may not display the error details. You can find the full failure details on your MCP server.

## Symptom

A tool call fails in your AI client, but no error details are shown.

## Causes

Some AI clients do not pass MCP error details through to the user interface. The error is still recorded on the server side, where you can check the request, the values used, and the failure reason.

## How to fix it

    Go to the [Zapier MCP dashboard](https://mcp.zapier.com/) and select your server.

  <Step title="Go to the History tab">
    Select the **History** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Inspect the failed call">
    Select the failed tool call to check the error details, including the values used and the output.
