- Field values: Control how each field on an action gets its value. You can set a field to a specific value, let the AI fill it in, or limit the AI to a set of choices. For example, set a Salesforce action so it always assigns new leads to the same owner.
- Default connection: Choose which app connection an app uses when its actions run. For example, set your work Gmail as the default instead of your personal one.
Before you begin
- A Zapier MCP server. You must be the owner of the server.
- The action you want to configure is already on the server.
Set field values
Each field on an action has a dropdown that controls how it gets its value. The options that appear depend on the field type.
To set field values for an action:
- Go to mcp.zapier.com and select your server.
- Select the
Apps tab and find the action you want to change. - Click the ⋮ menu next to the action and select
Configure. - For each field, select an option from the dropdown.
- If the option you selected requires a value, enter it.
- Click Save.
Set the default connection
You can set one default app connection per app on your server. Every action for that app then uses it. You can also override the default for a single action.Change the default for an app
- Click the ⋮ menu next to the app name (not the one next to an individual action).
- Select
Manage connection. - Select an existing connection from the dropdown, or add a new one.
- Click Set default connection.
Override the default for a single action
- Click the ⋮ menu next to the action and select
Configure. - In the connection dropdown, select a different connection.
- Click Save.
What these settings do not change
- Admin controls still apply. These are your personal settings for how your agent acts. Account-level app and action restrictions set by an admin are enforced separately.
