Sharing server access is available on Team and Enterprise plans. Giving other users access to your server does not let them connect to or use it with their AI client. To help someone set up their own independent server with the same tools, share a tool bundle instead.
Roles and permissions
| Role | Permissions |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full control: add tools, authenticate tools, and manage access. Assigned to the person who created the server. |
| Editor | Can add or remove tools. Cannot authenticate tools or change app connections. |
| View only | Can view the server’s tools and tool call history. Cannot make changes. |
Examples
Examples
IT oversight: An IT admin asks team members to add them as an editor. This gives the admin visibility into configured tools and the ability to remove tools that should not be there.Onboarding assistance: A team lead with editor access can add recommended tools to a new hire’s server. The new hire authenticates each tool themselves.

- Select the checkbox next to each tool you want to add.
- Click Add without authentication.

Server access vs. tool bundles
| Server access | Tool bundles | |
|---|---|---|
| What is shared | Access to your existing server | A copy of your tool list |
| Who can use it | Members of your Zapier account | Anyone with the link |
| Result | Shared server, one owner’s AI client | Recipient gets their own independent server |
| Plan required | Team or Enterprise | Any plan |
Limitations
- Server access works only with members of your Zapier account. To share tools with someone outside your account, create a tool bundle.
- Editors cannot authenticate tools on the owner’s behalf. Tools added by an editor must be authenticated by the owner before they can be used.
