Zapier MCP connects to ChatGPT as a plugin. Turn on developer mode, create the plugin with the Zapier connect URL, then finish setup with a prompt.

Before you begin

  • A Zapier account.
  • A ChatGPT plan that supports developer mode and custom plugins.

Connect Zapier MCP to ChatGPT

Turn on developer mode

Open ChatGPT Security and login settings and turn on Developer mode.

Create your plugin

Go to Plugins and click the + to create a new plugin.
  1. Name it Zapier MCP.
  2. Paste this URL as the MCP server URL:
  3. Leave the authentication setting as-is and click Create.

Connect your account

Click Connect, then sign in to your Zapier account.

Finish setup

Copy the prompt below and paste it into ChatGPT:

Verify the connection

Ask ChatGPT:
ChatGPT should list the Zapier MCP tools. If tools do not appear, check Troubleshooting.

Try it out

After setup, ask ChatGPT to do something with your connected apps:
  • “Find my last 5 emails and summarize them”
  • “What meetings do I have tomorrow?”
  • “Create a task in [app] to follow up with [name]”
  • “Send a Slack message to [channel] about [topic]“
