This page shows how to connect a Vapi assistant to Zapier MCP using a connection token.

Connect Zapier MCP to Vapi

Create an MCP server

  • Go to mcp.zapier.com.
  • Click Add MCP server.
  • Under Choose your AI agent, search for and select Vapi.

Generate a connection token

  • Select the link icon Connect tab.
  • Click Generate token.
  • Copy the server URL. It already includes your token.
The token is only shown once. If you lose it, click Rotate token to get a new one. The previous token stops working straight away, so update anywhere you used it.
Treat your connection token like a password. Anyone with the token, or with a server URL that contains it, can run tools on this server and access your data.

Create an MCP tool in Vapi

  • Go to the Tools page in your Vapi Dashboard.
  • Click Create Tool.
  • Select MCP.
  • Enter a name, and a description explaining when the tool should be invoked.
  • Paste the server URL you copied from mcp.zapier.com.

Add the tool to your assistant

  • Go to the Assistants page in your Vapi Dashboard.
  • Select your assistant.
  • Go to the Tools tab.
  • In the tools dropdown, select your MCP tool.
  • Click Publish.
You’ve now connected Zapier MCP to Vapi.
