Zapier MCP connects to ChatGPT as a custom connector. MCP tools are only available in Developer Mode. Standard ChatGPT does not support MCP.

Connect Zapier MCP to ChatGPT

Open the Connect tab

  1. Go to mcp.zapier.com and select your server.
  2. In the top menu bar, select the Connect tab.
  3. In the MCP Client dropdown, select ChatGPT.

Follow the setup instructions

The Connect tab will show you the steps to add Zapier MCP as a custom connector in ChatGPT. Follow them to complete the connection.When prompted, authenticate with your Zapier account via OAuth.

Confirm the connection

In ChatGPT Developer Mode, start a new conversation and ask: “What Zapier tools do I have available?”Your agent should list the tools enabled on your server.

Refreshing tools after changes

ChatGPT does not automatically detect changes to your Zapier MCP server. If you add, edit, or remove tools, refresh the connector manually:
  1. Go to ChatGPT Connector Settings.
  2. Select the Zapier Connector.
  3. Click Refresh.
If you do not refresh after making changes, ChatGPT will continue using the previous tool configuration.
